In Greece and the Mediterranean countries, hair loss and hair loss are not a rare phenomenon, so that in our country it is a medical and aesthetic problem with particularity.
Hair growth in the human body is subject to the influence of the endocrine glands, but is determined by genetic factors. The differentiation of hair growth is due to diseases of the endocrine system and in particular to the production and metabolism of androgen hormones or drugs (eg cortisone).
In hirsutism that occurs only in women, there is an increase in the diameter and length of hair in areas where there is dependence on male hormones (face, chest, abdomen).
In hypertrophy, on the other hand, there is an increase in the length of the hair on the entire surface of the body. Hair loss can also be seen in pregnancy and menopause.
Treatment of hirsutism and hypertrichosis
A complete endocrinological and ultrasound examination should precede the initiation of any treatment regimen. The graduate beautician, after evaluating the results and depending on the type of hair, the area that appears (face - body) and the area it occupies, follows one of the following methods or combinations thereof:
Electric hair removal
It is suitable for all hair types and is very effective and safe, as long as it is done by a specialized beautician. It is applied to individual hairs that cover small areas. It is the only effective method for white hair.
Biological hair removal
Ideal only for fluff, both face and body. It is based on the action of specific proteolytic enzymes. If the quality of the preparation is good, the results are very satisfactory.
Photoepilation
It is mainly used for the last 10 years and is based on the action of intense pulsed light on the melanocytes of the hair follicle. Particularly successful method for dark hair mainly on the body (bikini, legs, armpits, arms, abdomen, buttocks, waist). On the face it should be used selectively only in areas with uniformly strong hair (upper lip, favorites) and not indiscriminately where fluff is inserted. If applied by a specialized beautician, it is a completely safe and highly effective method, even for male hair growth.
